Former Vice President Dan Quayle on Voter Turnout

Dan Quayle | Stupid Politician Quotes

Thank you Captain Obvious. Dan Quayle never disappoints. We have an entire library of his stupid political quotes to share with you.

The Quote:

"A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls."

Who said it?

Dan Quayle is a Republican politician who served as the 44th vice president of the United States from 1989 to 1993 under President George H. W. Bush.

A native of Indiana, Quayle began his political career representing the Hoosier State in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1977 to 1981. At just 33 years old, he made history in 1980 as the youngest person ever elected to the U.S. Senate from Indiana. Serving from 1981 to 1989, Quayle achieved another milestone in 1986 by securing reelection with the largest margin of victory in Indiana's history at that time. (Source: Wikepedia)

Unfortunately, Quayle’s tenure as vice president was marred by frequent verbal missteps and gaffes (such as correcting a student’s proper spelling of "potato" to "potatoe.") This made him a target of late-night comedians and media ridicule, overshadowing his accomplishments and cementing his public image as a stupid politician prone to blunders.

Today, his stupid political quotes are endearingly known as  'Quayle-isms.'
