Marjorie Taylor Greene Doesn't Know Peach Trees From Petries

In the course of committing her stupidest gaffe ever, Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) alleges "crazy" conspiracy theories about Bill Gates, fake meat and government surveillance that warranted investigation.
Joe Biden may be the reigning King of Political gaffes, but according to our poll, this peach of a politician has racked up so many stupid quotes that she's dangerously close to stealing his crown. This blunder will likely complete the heist,
The Quote:
"...Bill Gates wants you to eat his fake meat that grows in a peach tree dish." - Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA)
Yes, you read that correctly. The 48-year-old congresswoman, who graduated from high school and earned a degree in business administration from the University of Georgia, said "Peach tree dish" instead of petri dish.
C'mon Marjorie! You're smarter than that!
Context:
Liberals claim Marjorie Taylor Greene has never met a conspiracy theory she doesn't like. We prefer to think of her as a zealous conservative watchdog who's not afraid to sound the alarm at the first inkling of progressive funny business.
On May 28, 2022, Green took to Facebook Live to warn Americans about big government surveillance and lab-grown meat.
"You have to accept the fact that the government totally wants to provide surveillance on every part of your life," Greene said on her podcast, “MTG Live.”
“They want to know when you are eating, they want to know if you are eating a cheeseburger, which is very bad because Bill Gates wants you to eat his fake meat that grows in a peach tree dish, so you’ll probably get a little zap inside your body that’ll say ‘No, don’t eat a real cheeseburger, you need to eat the fake burger."

Does Bill Gates Really Want You to Eat Fake Meat?
Yes, he does.
In 2021, Microsoft Founder Bill Gates told the MIT Technology Review, "I do think all rich countries should move to 100 percent synthetic beef."
It's no secret that Gates is a significant investor in companies that produce cultivated (lab-grown) meat to combat climate change. Gates says taking live animals out of the equation can help us avert climate disaster by significantly reducing the harmful greenhouse gases produced by livestock rearing.
Compared to other food categories, beef production generates higher greenhouse gas emissions and uses more land, water, and fertilizer per calorie of protein.
Does Bill Gates Want to Force You to Give Up Cheeseburgers?
Gates believes that synthetic meat is crucial for reducing emissions. But so far, he hasn't explicitly called for specific regulations to mandate lab-grown meat. He says forcing people to stop eating traditional meat isn't realistic. Instead, Gates says meat alternatives need to be so delicious and cost-competitive that people will naturally choose them, similar to how they adopted cell phones.
Is the Government Surveilling You?
Yes, but not how you might imagine.
When you think of government surveillance, wiretapping bad guys typically comes to mind. You may not realize nearly everything you do is tracked and that information is sold to corporations, governments and law enforcement —often without your permission.
It's called Big Data, and it's big business.
Companies known as data brokers buy and sell information obtained through your online activities, mobile devices, public records, questionnaires, electronic check-ins, Point of Sale (POS) terminals and places you would never expect.
The same companies that offer credit checks and identity protection also sell license plate scans that show where you’ve been, accompanied by records about what you own, where you live and who you know.
Big Data is largely used for targeted advertising and risk assessment. It's also a favorite of law enforcement and other government agencies who purchase GPS location, financial, and social media data from brokers without a warrant, exploiting loopholes in privacy laws.
We haven't found any evidence of government "zappers," however. MTG was kidding about that.

Before and after entering Congress, Greene drew national attention for promoting and defending a range of far-right positions and conspiracy theories. In February 2021, the House removed her from the Budget and Education & Labor committees in response to past statements; she remained a member of the House but without committee roles until the next Congress.
