Congresswoman Confuses Senseless Murder with Chinese Dumpling

Lauren Boebert | Stupid Politician Quotes

Need a good laugh? This phonetic faux pas by Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-CO is hilarious.

The Quote:

"I don't know what a  'wonton killing' is. I would have to look that one up."  --Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-CO

Context:

If it had been a game show, Boebert would have lost.

Are You Smarter Than An Eighth-Grader?

At a Truth & Liberty Coalition conference on September 9, 2022, Lauren Boebert was  reading a passage from Romans that in The Message edition of the Bible refers to “wanton killing.”

Video of the event shows Boebert confusing "wanton" with "Wonton" — the Chinese dumpling:

"And then, all hell broke loose," Boebert reads with the conviction of a Baptist preacher delivering his Sunday sermon, "Rampant, evil, grabbing and grasping, vicious backstabbing. They made life hell on Earth with their envy wonton killing."

Seemingly stumped, Boebert breaks character and says, "I don't know what a wonton killing is. I'm gonna have to look that one up.  But it sounds interesting. I don't think I wanna be a part of it."

Wonton Killings

We don't know what a 'Wonton Killing' is either. Bobert is such a staunch supporter of gun rights, we mistakenly assumed she'd be familiar with all of the killings. Nevertheless, the average Middle School student can tell you "wanton killings" are senseless murder.

To save face, Boebert could claim she was hungry and light-headed when she read the passage, or that she forgot her good pair of glasses.  But so far, the Congresswoman hasn't offered an excuse for her wanton misuse of the English language.

'Wonton' vs. 'Wanton'

Boebert's also a former restaurant owner. Maybe that explains why she was so quick to pronounce the word, wonton.

Nah.  That would be reaching.
