Hillary Clinton Thinks Republicans Can't Be Christians

(POLITICAL QUOTES) --Although she doesn't do it often, Hillary Clinton has spoken at length about her Christiaan faith and how it's shaped her politics.

The Quote:

"I have to confess that it's crossed my mind that you can't be a Christian and a Republican."

Context:

According to Time magazine, Hillary Clinton openly criticizes conservative Christians in the Republican party who are quick to condemn or judge others harshly.

Despite her long-standing ties to the Methodist Church, Evangelicals vilify the former First Lady for her liberal political ideology. Several political polls and news outlets, including the Washington Post, report that conservative Christians have opposed Clinton throughout her political career, particularly during her presidential campaigns.

This opposition stems from a combination of factors, including her stances on social issues, her association with the Democratic Party, and her symbolic representation of values perceived as contrary to conservative evangelical beliefs.

The Denver Post cites emails released by Wikileaks from Clinton's staff mocking Catholicism and Evangelicals as evidence of Clinton's crusade  to force conservative Americans to bend their religious beliefs to her radical agenda favoring policies like taxpayer-funded abortion on demand.

Who Said It:

A native of Illinois, Hillary Clinton is an American politician and diplomat. She served as the 67th US Secretary of State under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2018. She represented New York in the US Senate from 2001 to 2009 and was First Lady of the United States as the wife of Bill Clinton from 1993 to 2001, as well as the First Lady of Arkansas, where Bill Clinton was Governor from 1979 to 1992. Clinton has the distinction of being the first female senator from New York, the only First Lady to have run for elected office and the first First Lady to simultaneously hold elected office. In 2016 she won the Democratic Party's nomination for president, becoming the first woman to win a presidential nomination by a major US political party and the only woman to win the popular vote for US president.
