Bill Clinton is an American politician, attorney, and public speaker who served as the 42nd president of the United States from 1993 to 2001. Raised in Hope, Arkansas, Clinton overcame a modest upbringing to earn degrees from Georgetown University, attend Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and graduate from Yale Law School, where he met his future wife, Hillary Rodham. Before his presidency, he served multiple terms as the governor of Arkansas.
Clinton’s presidency was marked by a strong U.S. economy, budget surpluses and steady job growth. However, his time in office was also marred by controversy. In 1998, he was impeached by the House of Representatives on charges related to his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. He was later acquitted by the Senate and completed his second term with high public approval ratings.
